Good Morning SCMS Families,
Down the stretch they go!!! I know the Derby is this weekend, but we also anxiously await state testing which begins next week as well, May 8-14. It's hard to believe we only have 3 school days until state testing! Currently, our last day of school is scheduled for May 21. Key dates: SCMS 8th grade graduation/awards on the 20th (9:30-11:30), 6th/7th grade awards on the 21st (9:30-11:30), 8th grade Belle trip on May 21st. State Testing is HERE!!!!!!!!!!! Monday we will have our Testing Olympics. Fun and games will be held outside in the morning and after lunch Mr. Adams along with our faculty/staff will participate against students in what will prove to be a fun yet competitive game of basketball in the gym for all students to enjoy. Tuesday we prepare for the big day! Wednesday is day 1 of testing for students at all grade levels. Testing concludes the following Tuesday. Please make sure your son/daughter is in bed early, has a healthy breakfast, and try's their very best on the test. We want to make it FIVE CONSECUTIVE YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED here at SCMS! Our PTSO has put together a flyer to encourage students to participate in teacher appreciation week next week. Click here for more info!!!! We always have some questions regarding dress attire for the Belle of Louisville trip. Here's some tips from our teachers: 1. Absolutely no jeans and no shorts. 2. Wear your Sunday best. Dress, khakis, dress suit, tuxedo if you feel inclined 3. Wear shoes the whole time. Bring flip flops to change into if needed 4. Make sure everything is covered and appropriate length, with nothing hanging out. *Mr. Buynak is getting more Belle and Graduation information home next week. Good luck to all our student athletes and specificlly our boy's soccer as they play in the Conference Championship tomorrow night looking to repeat as back to back champs: softball schedule , girls soccer schedule , boys soccer schedule , baseball schedule Check out this year's last Grizzly News episode: http://viewpure.com/ZxpTZvkHKE0?start=0&end=0 This week's Tweet of the Week is: https://twitter.com/MrMercerSCMS/status/1121103092542582784 Congrats, this week's Grizzly's of the Week: https://twitter.com/MrMercerSCMS/status/1121583703988363264 We have an intentional focus on educating the whole child, not just intellectually, but socially and developmentally. We teach coping skills, trauma informed care, and mindfulness on a weekly basis. PAWS mentor/mentee sessions incorporate these strategies as well. We have received an outpouring of positive feedback, and we now begin each week with a "3 minute Mindfulness" meditation session.
