The 2nd quarter mid-term reports end on November 15th and report cards will be sent home on November 27th. Last night they defeated Bardstown in the finals of the MKAC Conference Tournament. This is the first Championship for girls basketball in school history. Grizzly football wrapped up a strong season over Fall Break dropping a close game 8-6 at Lexington Catholic. They finished conference runner's up. Great job guys! Good luck to our boy's basketball team who opens up their season on the road Monday at North Oldham (Grades 6,7,8). We would like to invite everyone to the Fall Band Concert this Monday, Oct. 29th. Cap off your week by watching a performance, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory produced by the SCMS Drama Dept. Showings will be: Nov. 1 (7pm), 2(7pm), 3(2&7pm), & 4th(2pm). Please come out and support the ARTS! Spencer County Middle School cordially invites all Veterans, Retired Military, Active Duty, Enlisted, & Reservists to attend the Pancakes for Patriots Breakfast & Program at our school on Friday, November 9th. Breakfast begins at 8:30 AM with a school-wide program to follow. Spouses or companions of veterans are welcome to attend. Several of our teams, clubs, and organizations will be participating and SCHS is having Chili and a Auction. The SCMS family would like to wish Mr. John Howie luck in his new position as College and Career Coach at SCHS. Coach Howie has been instrumental to our school and though it's bitter sweet, we are extremely excited that he will now have an even greater impact on the youth of Spencer County. We welcome Ms. Miranda Foree aboard, Ms. Foree will be taking Mr. Howie's position as Technology Instructor at SCMS. Congratulations to SCMS Teacher Ronda Cox on her nomination for "Going the Distance for ALL Students" as she has gone the extra mile for two of her ESL students by individualizing instruction, printing vocabulary flashbacks in Spanish, and engaging in additional bilingual activities to meet their needs! The Grizzly's will be playing the conference tournament and state tournament starting next week. The Lady Grizzly Basketball team won their 8th grade night games over Frankfort in front of a packed house. 7th and 8th grade tournaments begin next week as well.
