We are now living The Leader in Me’s, 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. To practice what we teach, my weekly correspondence follows the 7 Habits theme: Habit 1 – SCMS Assistant Principal Erin Demyan and School Family Resource Director Vonda Martin, are BEING PROACTIVE, by establishing a “Students for Success” student group that meets weekly to discuss goal-setting, behavior, and academic success. For more information, email [email protected]! Habit 2 – Please encourage students to BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND in completing and turning in assignments as mid-term reports will be sent home on September 17. The 1st nine weeks ends October 8 and report cards will be sent home October 15. Habit 3 – Spencer County Middle School Intervention Specialist Elizabeth Hinton is PUTTING FIRST THINGS FIRST, in regards to our Gifted and Talented Program and our Response to Intervention Program. Habit 5 – In SC, we SEEK FIRST TO UNDERSTAND, THEN TO BE UNDERSTOOD by administering the MAP Assessment three times per year. This allows us to individualize instruction to teach students exactly where they are. The first Assessment window begins tomorrow, Aug 31. Habit 6 – The SCMS PTSO and UofL Soccer SYNERGIZE each spring to discuss the importance of academics with Grizzly Students. We love to support our sponsors! Coach Lolla & the girls’ opening game is 8/28 @ 7:30. Ten + group tickets are only $5. Tickets can be purchased, in advance, with [email protected] (502) 852-0120 or the Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium ticket office.
