Good Monday Grizzly Families and Supporters,
This is our last week prior to Fall Break which begins Friday, October 11. 1st Quarter Report Cards will be sent home October 10th. To stay current on day to day happenings at SCMS you can follow me on Twitter at @MrMercerSCMS or on the Spencer County Middle School Facebook Page. Click here for the 2019-2020 Spencer County School Calendar. Test scores are in and it's another banner year for SCMS. Although we are still analyzing the data which seems to be more difficult given the new "Star" accountability system, there's plenty to celebrate. Overall, we rank #7 in the OVEC Region and we are the only FOUR STAR school in Spencer County (1 of 5 out of 47 in the OVEC). Mr. Russell, our ECE Director in Spencer County notified us last week that our ECE scores were now #1 in OVEC, surpassing both Oldham County and Anchorage Independent. Reading scores remain solid with over 70% of our students scoring Proficient and/or Distinguished. Math is steady with only 5% of our students scoring in the Novice category. Social Studies continues to be a strength, Science scores improved and Writing On-Demand as always will be our focal point school-wide moving forward. We're in the process now of planning our annual celebration and recognition of students. We would like to thank all of our parents and students for making our school so awesome!
