Today marks our first full week back with most all our students in over a year. I want to thank our parents, students, and staff, for persevering through the most unlikely of circumstances. So many uncertainties, often from week to week. Spencer County is truly a special place! We are closer to normal than we've been, however we are still taking every safety precaution possible. Cleaning of desks and tables happens after each class period and lunch. Everyone wears masks all day with the exception to an AM/PM mask break for students outside. With that said, we understand parents want to be a part of this year's 8th grade promotion. Frankly, I'm more empathetic to this class than any other, as they've been robbed of so much of their middle school experience. The 8th grade class picnic at the lake is scheduled for May 28th. Due to state capacity limitations, this year's 8th grade promotion will be limited to two tickets per student for attendees, given the week of graduation. We will be splitting promotion into two ceremonies. Students from Ms. Birch's Team will graduate at 9am, and students from Ms. Kennedy's Team will graduate at 10am, both on June 2. Immediately following each ceremony, we will have a photo op area setup outside the gymnasium in the grass. 6th, 7th, & 8th, Grade Teacher's Choice awards will be given out in class. Congratulations to all our students who participated in the School Drama Performance of Cinderella. I think SCES teacher Gina Pollett said it best, "The show was amazing last night!!!!! The set, the lights, the sound, the costumes, the acting......... amazing!!! I knew the casting was so good, but I realized last night just how good!" Thank you Ms. Pollett, and thanks to all who attended and assisted. Welcome, Ms. Tammy Moorman, our new Drug Free Communities Director in Spencer County and Shaya Hadden, our new Seven Counties School Based Therapist. Summer School will be mandatory for any student failing a semester of Reading and/or Math, and is also available to other students.
