We are now living The Leader in Me’s, 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. To practice what we teach, my weekly correspondence follows the 7 Habits theme: Habit 1 – BE PROACTIVE and let teachers know how much you care as this is indeed Teacher Appreciation Week. Huge thanks to Spencer Christian and Mr. Adams and the BOE for our gifts! Habit 2 – At Spencer County Middle, we BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND! 4th Qtr. Mid-Term Reports were sent home April 28th. KPREP State Test – May 9-15. 8th Grade “Belle” Trip is May 17th. 6th/7th grade awards day is May 19th at 9:30am. 8th grade awards and graduation is May 23 at 9:30am. Habit 3 – This Monday we will PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST as we Kickoff KPREP Testing!!! Students will go to PAWS to discuss our goals of remaining Distinguished and cracking the Top 20. Then, guest speaker Joe Washington will surely get things going as he entertains everyone in the gymnasium with his “Say Yes to the Test” performance. Finally, we wrap of Monday after school as we decorate for student arrival the next morning. All parents and teachers are welcome!!! Email: [email protected] Habit 4 – Ms. Leff and the GBB staff are THINKING WIN-WIN! Now that GBB is over, we are accepting applications for our 21st Century Summer Program at SCMS. Our emphasis is Science, Technology, Engineering, Math. Dates for students are M-Th, June 19-29 & July 10-20. [email protected] Habit 5 – Mr. Haun and SCHS was SEEKING FIRST TO UNDERSTAND, THEN TO BE UNDERSTOOD by speaking to all 8th grade students last week regarding 9th grade scheduling. Freshman orientation at SCHS will be August 1, from 9-12. For more info: [email protected] Habit 6 – SCHS and SCMS Football is SYNERGIZING with their annual Spring Fundraiser. If you need mulch for around the house, we deliver. Orders are due May 11 and delivery will be May 19th and 20th.
