To: All SCMS Stakeholders
We are now living The Leader in Me’s, 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. To practice what we teach, my weekly correspondence follows the 7 Habits theme: Habit 1 – Parents can BE PROACTIVE by attending our Fall Parent Involvement Night this Thursday, Sept. 22. Parents will have an opportunity to follow their son/daughters schedule as we rotate classes every 15 minutes. Food at 5:30 and we start 1st period at 6pm. See attached agendas. Habit 2 – At SCMS we try to BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND! Report Cards will be sent home on October 13th prior to Fall Break. Fall Break is October 14-24th. Habit 3 – Congratulations Valerie Pucko, Dalton Hardin, Elijah Young, and Cole Wright, for PUTTING FIRST THINGS FIRST and being recognized as Grizzly Heroes last week. We are very proud of the leadership skills they are displaying. Habit 4 – On September 27, we will be THINKING WIN-WIN when Ms. Kentucky will be coming to SCMS about 1:15 to speak with all girls. She also will be speaking to GBB boys and girls after school, in case anyone wants to stay and listen. For more info. contact [email protected]. Habit 5 – We are asking everyone to SEEK FIRST TO UNDERSTAND, THEN TO BE UNDERSTOOD when dropping kids off and picking kids up. Please do not let children out anywhere except directly in front of the main entrance at our designated drop off area. It is not permitted to let kids out by the football field or pull into teacher parking. This could result in an accident. Thank you! Habit 6 – Ms. Gabbard’s SYNERGIZING at the Scholastic Book Fair in the McGill LMC and online! We will be open from 7:15 - 3:00 every day and also during Parent Involvement Night. The online book fair features books we have at our book fair as well as additional titles for a variety of ages. The theme this fall is Buccaneer Book Fair. http://www.scholastic.com/bf/spencercntymiddle1 Habit 7 – Everyone can come out and SHARPEN THE SAW at the Fall Band concert on Oct 6th, starting at 6:30. 6th grade and 7th grade report at 5:45, and 8th grade reports at 6:45. Respectfully, Matt Mercer Principal SCMS
