To: All SCMS Stakeholders We are now living The Leader in Me’s, 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. To practice what we teach, my weekly correspondence follows the 7 Habits theme: Habit 1 – Parents can BE PROACTIVE by checking Infinite Campus daily. Students can be proactive by turning in all assignments on time, as Mid-Term Reports will be sent home September 15th. Please look for those at that time. You can contact teachers with questions/concerns at Habit 2 – At SCMS we try to BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND! Report Cards will be sent home on October 13th prior to Fall Break. Fall Break is October 14-24th. Habit 3 – Congratulations Kylie Truit and Raylin Dixon, for PUTTING FIRST THINGS FIRST and being recognized as Grizzly Heroes last week. We are very proud of the leadership skills they are displaying. Habit 4 – On September 22, we will be THINKING WIN-WIN at our Bi-annual Parent Involvement Night. This is a great opportunity to walk through your students 7 periods schedule and meet their teachers. Topics are grade level relevant & students are welcome to attend. Refreshments - 5:30. Habit 5 – SCMS is SEEKING FIRST TO UNDERSTAND, THEN TO BE UNDERSTOOD by welcoming part time guidance counselor Beth Burge! Ms. Burge isn’t new to our school as she previously taught 6th grade English. We are excited to have yet another level of support for families and students. You can contact her at [email protected]. Habit 6 – Boys and Girls Basketball are SYNERGIZING in hosting a September 16th Middle School Dance! All are welcome to attend this night of food and fun. The dance is 3-6pm. Habit 7 – Thanks to everyone who came out and SHARPENED THE SAW this week by supporting Grizzly Athletics and attending our faculty tailgate! Football defeated Oldham County last night & we recognized our 8th grade along with Cross Country. Girls’ basketball won three games vs Bloomfield. The golf team won several matches vs Bullitt East yesterday and Anderson County last week. Respectfully, Matt Mercer Principal SCMS
