To: All SCMS Stakeholders
We are now living The Leader in Me’s, 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. To practice what we teach, my weekly correspondence follows the 7 Habits theme: Habit 1 – Parents can BE PROACTIVE with the free Infinite Campus App, which sends push notifications every time a teacher enters a grade for your son or daughter. Follow the four simple steps seen here: http://publicschools.spencercounty.ky.gov/parents/icportal/. For more information email [email protected]. Habit 2 – Students at SCMS are tasked to BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND, by keeping their agendas with them & up to date daily, completing “I Can’s” for each class period, and adding key events. Habit 3 – PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST, Grizzly Beyond the Bell begins today! Students can stay after school weekly M-Th 2:30 to 5:30. Food, Homework Help, Fun Clubs & Transportation included. Habit 4 – The following students are THINKING WIN-WIN by leading the school in Accelerated Leader points: Matthew Taylor, Emily McGill, Morgan Schneider, Jason Combs, & in first place Sydney Druin. Congratulations to Emily McGill for leading SCMS in AR points last year! To recognize her achievement our library will be named the “McGill Center for Learning”, this school year. Habit 5 – SCMS is SEEKING FIRST TO UNDERSTAND, THEN TO BE UNDERSTOOD by MAP Testing this week. 8th Grade today, 7th grade Tuesday, and 6th grade Wednesday. This data will be analyzed Friday by staff at our Professional Development Day. Habit 6 – Time to SYNERGIZE at basketball tryouts on September 1. 5th and 6th grade boys will tryout from 4:30 - 6:00. 7th & 8th grade boys will tryout 2:45 – 4:30. No school for students this Friday and Monday. Happy Labor Day Weekend! Habit 7 – Students can SHARPEN THE SAW by signing up for the Spencer County Youth Wrestling Club! Signups will be September 21 & 22 6:30-8pm in the SCMS Cafeteria. Flyer attached. Respectfully, Matt Mercer Principal SCMS
