To: All SCMS Stakeholders
We are now living The Leader in Me’s, 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. To practice what we teach, my weekly correspondence follows the 7 Habits theme: Habit 1 – Parents, please remind all students to BE PROACTIVE in turning in daily assignments, as mid-term reports will be sent home on November 21, 2014. You may access Infinite Campus online to check grades daily. Habit 2 – SCMS and SCES PTSO’s decided to BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND three years ago; planning to purchase an all new digital sign for our highway entrance. This vision has become a reality, and will serve as another avenue of communication and celebrate student success! Habit 3 – We always like to PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST; student achievement! Our Grizzly Dance Team competed over the weekend at Bethlehem High School and won it all; finishing first place and named Grand Champions!!!! Habit 4 – November 11, was Veteran’s Day at SCMS; we were THINKING WIN-WIN as we honored nearly 100 vet’s that risked it all for freedom’s sake! The day began with our annual pancake breakfast for Veteran’s in the Grizzly Café. Habit 5 – Ms. Ashley McGaughey and Ms. Lillian Mathews chose to SEEK FIRST TO UNDERSTAND, THEN TO BE UNDERSTOOD by completing the rigorous National Board Certification. I am very proud to say, SCMS now has ten NBCT: Ms. Cox, Mr. McClain, Mr. Buynak, Ms. Blandford, Ms. Gross, Ms. Brown, Ms. Rowland, and Ms. Kennedy. Habit 6 – SCMS and SCHS Drama Departments SYNERGIZED to produce Alice in Wonderland! Over 100 students worked on this production! Thanks to everyone who came out and supported the amazing work of these students! Habit 7 – Please mark December 5th on your calendar as an evening to SHARPEN THE SAW at SCMS’ First Annual Winterfest (Fall festival in December). All are welcome for a fun night of food, activities, auctions, crafts, indoor yard sale, and games for all ages. Respectfully, Matt Mercer Principal SCMS
