Hello Grizzly Family,
I'm sure you have heard the latest news that Governor Bashear has mandated that all schools go virtual starting this Monday until at least January 4th. Let me be clear. We already have one group of "Virtual" students that have not attended face to face at all and utilize the Edgenuity platform. That will remain the same until January as planned. For students that have been Hybrid (face to face, two days per week) you will now have class from home through zoom with Google Classroom five days per week. This is precisely the way we started the year. If you are like me, you can't remember last week leave off August. This means all Hybrid students will now zoom: Math and Science classes on Monday/Wednesday, English and Social Studies on Tuesday/Thursday, and the Arts on Friday. Teaching Ashton, Alexis, & Addison, is far more difficult than running a school. Working and teaching my kids' is near impossible, so we've come up with some best practices to assist you in this transition. Click here for virtual tips for parents As far as extra-curricular goes, we are continuing with rehearsals today for our spring play. We still hope this production can occur, only time will tell. The Kentucky High School Athletic Association met Tuesday and decided to postpone fall sports. We fall under that umbrella somewhat, and follow their recommendations. That said, our athletic director Scott Noel, along with SCMS coaches will be informing parents and players on the specifics of when we can practice again and begin playing games. As for the immediate future, it's not happening. I leave you with this, I hate that Alexis' junior and now senior year isn't as she expected. I hate that being Addison's principal for 6th and now 7th grade doesn't look like I expected. I hate that critical grades for reading like 2nd and 3rd have been altered for Ashton. However, I thank God they are healthy. During this time let us all thank God for the many blessings we take for granted daily. And let us pray for all those that are sick or all those that were essentially laid off yesterday just prior to rent being due in December and before Christmas presents could be bought for the kids. If there is anything I can do in anyway, please contact me at [email protected] Sincerely, MM
