Hello,
I pray that everyone had a blessed break! Today is day 1 of the 2nd semester here at SCMS. Semester exams and on-demand writing pieces should be returned this week. Report cards will be sent home this Friday, January 11. We are also MAP testing this week: 8th grade tests Monday, 7th grade tests Tuesday, & 6th grade tests Wednesday. MAP Makeups will be next Monday and Tuesday. Huge thanks to everyone that participated in this year's Winterfest! It was a record year, bringing in over $17,000 before expenses. We truly appreciate all our sponsor's and volunteer's, and Platinum Supporter's: County Mart, SC Public Library, and Spaulding Concrete. Every penny will be invested into our Chromebooks for Kids initiative, which has purchased over 500 devices to date. One Book One School All grade levels have been reading the novel The Miscalculations of Lightning Girl by Stacy McAnulty during their 5th period class. Tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 8th, students will hear from the author and have a chance to ask questions about her career and the book. Ms. McAnulty, will also be meeting with our GBB kiddos for an enrichment activity after school. Come out and support boy's basketball this week. Tonight is 8th grade night at SCMS vs Bloomfield MS. We will be recognizing boys basketball, cheer, and dance, between the 7th & 8th grade games. Elementary school dance will be performing between 6th and 7th grade games. Banners for softball and baseball will be pulled at halftime of the 6th grade game. The boy's also play on the road Tuesday and Thursday as well. Good luck guys! A Reading Plus ice cream social will be this Friday for any student that has moved up a level. Ask your son/daughter how they are doing on Reading Plus!
