To: All SCMS Stakeholders
We are now living The Leader in Me’s, 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. To practice what we teach, my weekly correspondence follows the 7 Habits theme: Habit 1 – Students can BE PROACTIVE by turning in all assignments. The third quarter is scheduled to end this Thursday, March 17. A very useful tool for parents is the Infinite Campus App; where you can check grades and receive push notifications daily. Habit 2 – Congratulations to our current A.R. leaders who BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND: 5th – Abby Watts, 4th – Cameron Emmons, 3rd – Erika Montgomery, 2nd – Dawson Sheble, 1st – Emily McGill. Habit 3 – SCMS is PUTTING FIRST THINGS FIRST by recognizing Tyler Moehrke, who will be representing us at the State National History Day contest in April. Way to go Tyler! Habit 4 – Ms. Demyan is THINKING WIN-WIN with this month’s “Blizzard Bunch”: Easton Pack, Greg Martin, Cierra Watts and Caitlyn Reynolds. Congratulations also to Valeria Pucko, for serving recently as FRYSC “Page for the day” in Frankfort at the Capitol. Habit 5 – Ms. Leff and GBB will be SEEKING FIRST TO UNDERSTAND, THEN TO BE UNDERSTOOD by hosting a “Raising Drug Free Kids” town hall meeting on Thursday, March 24 at 6:30 in the SCMS Auditorium. Flyer attached. Habit 6 – We will be SYNERGIZING with SCHS Principal Mr. Haun on April 28th to discuss scheduling with all 8th graders. SCHS representatives will be following up the next week to answer questions and gather information. For more info. Contact [email protected]. Habit 7 – Congratulations to Ms. Phelps, Ms. Smith, and Ms. Hinton and the SCMS Quiz Bowl Team members who SHARPENED THEIR SAW by finishing in the Final Four of the state competition in Louisville. This amazing group will compete at Nationals in New Orleans this June. Kudos to: Jack Reynolds, Josh Dunkelberger, Jack Kennedy, Tyler Moehrke, Sam Cooper, and JD Brown. Respectfully, Matt Mercer Principal SCMS
