Matt Mercer Principal SCMS Happy Monday Grizzly Family,
Our first week back to school was an exciting one! It's re-energizing to see our 740 students walking the hallways. Like many of you, going into July I was planning on getting things back to pre-covid normal. As the school year quickly approached it became clear to us all that was not going to be the case. This roller coaster simply won't stop. Last Tuesday at 4:30pm, I heard at the same time as each of you that the mask mandate was once again in effect via Governor Bashear's executive order. To be quiet honest I dislike wearing masks as much as the next guy BUT my greatest fear is that rather than getting back to normal, we're heading back to last year. Although some students excel working independently in a virtual scenario, it simply isn't what's best for all. So with that said, I'll continue to be thankful for each day we have all our students here at SCMS and pray we are able to continue to do so. To stay current on day to day happenings at SCMS you can follow me on Twitter at @MrMercerSCMS or on the Spencer County Middle School Facebook Page. Reminder, everyone is required to show an I.D. prior to picking up or speaking to a child. All transportation notes and requests go to [email protected]. Friendly Reminder – students are only permitted to use five parent notes all year. STUDENTS THAT ARE QUARANTINED DUE TO COVID ARE NOT COUNTED ABSENT, but must makeup all missed assignments.
